Ashka Wirk, BSc, MBA, FCMC, ACC

Ashka Wirk is the Principal of Wirk Consulting, bringing a unique blend of consulting, coaching, and facilitation expertise to help clients improve their organization’s performance. She is a Certified Management Consultant (Canadian Association of Management Consultants), experienced facilitator, and Certified Executive Coach (International Coaching Federation). She has a BSc in biology from UBC and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University. She serves on the Board of the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce and is the President of the BC Institute of the Canadian Association of Management Consultants.

Ashka is a seasoned private sector leader. She began her career as head of Business Development with Okanagan-based biotechnology firm, AgriForest Bio-technologies where she designed and implemented marketing and sales strategy, built strategic business collaborations, and worked closely with the firm’s R&D team to ensure that AgriForest remained innovative to ensure its long-term sustainability. She then led the healthcare association management subsidiary of Vancouver-based StemCell Technologies, the largest biotechnology company in Canada – first as an Executive Director of several not-for-profit international and national healthcare association clients, then as CEO of the firm.

As a management consultant for the last ten years, Ashka has provided consulting support to numerous ministries and agencies in the BC public sector; to not-for profit organizations of all configurations and sizes; and to small and medium-sized private sector businesses to improve their organizational performance.

Alexa Tremblay, BCom, CMC (In-progress)

Alexa Tremblay is a Consultant at Wirk Consulting. She plays a key role in all aspects of Wirk Consulting’s operations – from business development to project management to client relations. Alexa has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria and is working towards a Certified Management Consultant designation (Canadian Association of Management Consultants). She is currently the Chair of the BC Institute of the Canadian Association of Management Consultants annual Awards Night

Alexa brings strength in thoughtful planning, meticulous execution, and delivering exceptional client experiences. She has intentionally taken on roles where her work has an impact. Prior to joining Wirk Consulting, Alexa was Communications Coordinator for two female-led, Vancouver Island-based companies – first with a retail clothing company and then with a boutique communications firm, where she designed and implemented social media strategies including managing organic and paid content, overseeing posting and engagement across all social channels, and analysing results. In addition to her professional roles, Alexa served as the Executive of Human Resources for the University of Victoria Commerce Students’ Society. In this leadership position, she oversaw a portfolio of four directors and supported a team of 60 individuals dedicated to kick-starting connections between students and business professionals through various activities and events, so students could get the most out of their education, both academically and socially.

She has an unwavering commitment to helping Wirk Consulting deliver on it’s promise to clients to serve as an experienced partner and trusted advisor – ensuring clients achieve real results.

Maggie McKenna, BCom

Maggie McKenna is an Analyst at Wirk Consulting – supporting all aspects of client engagements from proposal development, data analysis and reporting, session preparation and delivery, to follow up.

Maggie has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria and is commencing her work towards a Certified Management Consultant designation (Canadian Association of Management Consultants).Her approach is characterized by enthusiasm for her work, a commitment to excellence, and a readiness to tackle the challenges ahead with innovative solutions.

Prior to joining Wirk Consulting, Maggie worked with NuLeaf Farms, a Calgary-based agritech company that supports food security and empowers the next generation of farmers with the knowledge, technology, and skills to thrive by designing Controlled Environment Agriculture solutions that drive efficient, sustainable, and profitable indoor farms. She also served as Social Media Director for Found off the Grid at the University of Victoria, an organization dedicated to getting more students outdoors, where she fine-tuned her skills in digital communication, engagement strategies, and content creation. These roles strengthened her ability to connect, expand, and engage with the community in support of an important cause.

Kate Fagan Taylor, BA, MDiv, CMC, ACC

Kate Fagan Taylor is an Associate of Wirk Consulting, partnering with us on Facilitation and Engagement projects. She is a Certified Management Consultant whose expertise includes strategy development and design, consultations and community engagement, governance, organizational culture development, coaching and facilitation. Kate’s senior advisory and governance experience spans the BC public sector and Crown agencies, the academic sector, the health sector, technology and energy industries, and not-for-profits.

Kate has designed health and technology projects with complex ecosystem-building and stakeholder engagement requirements, including strategy development and implementation for the Health Data Coalition (HDC). Her expertise in facilitation includes strategy and business transformation planning, design roundtables, webinars, interviews, coaching and workshops. She also recently worked with the South Island Division of Family Practice on a business planning project related to physician recruitment as well as with the Nanaimo Regional Hospital Disctrict on their Health Forward Summit that brought together leaders from First Nations, the Province, local governments, community health organizations and the business sector to foster dialogue on a wide range of healthcare issues, strengthen partnerships and help shape strategies for the future of healthcare in the region.

Working collaboratively with executives and service providers, Kate facilitates policy and governance design across the public sector. She has led strategy development in Health Services, Health Promotion and Quality Improvement, Executive Talent Management, Crown Agency Governance, software design, University governance, and Health Information Management and Policy. These projects were enhanced by her expertise in intercultural collaboration, social responsibility and ethics, and executive development and coaching.

Kate directed the governance framework for the BC Crown Agency sector, has designed governance frameworks for publicly funded enterprises and post-secondary institutions across Canada, and served as the senior official responsible for governance and policy at the University of Victoria.
